When the Sun Goes Down: Seniors Redefining Nightlife

For many folks, the word “nightlife” conjures up images of crowded dance floors and live music though for a growing number of seniors, nightlife means something a little different. It might be an evening concert in the park where the songs are as familiar as old friends, a community theatre performance, a card game or a gathering of friends at a favorite restaurant.
Perhaps the greatest lesson seniors offer about nightlife is that it isn’t defined by the hour on the clock, but rather by the memories we make. Whether it’s dancing to a favorite song, sharing stories over coffee or simply enjoying a summer evening with friends at their home or at your home. The joy of going out doesn’t come with an expiration date. In many ways, the later chapters of life can bring a renewed appreciation for the simple pleasures of staying out just a little longer and savoring the night.
As it turns out, nightlife doesn’t belong to any one generation. For many seniors, a night out holds plenty of possibilities and proof that a good time never really goes out of style.
