Blessings from Unity

In what may often feel like a broken and fractured world, there is much blessing to behold in our love and support for one another. The Psalmist declared: “How good and pleasant it is when people live together in unity! . . . For there, the Lord bestows his blessing. . .” (Psalm 133:1 & 3, NIV)

One of the last prayers that Jesus prayed may be found in John’s Gospel, Chapter 17. There, He prayed for all who would believe in Him that they would remain united in love, showing the world God’s love.

As followers, we look to God to answer our prayers, but this prayer of Jesus is a prayer we may only answer with faith. In faith, we may demonstrate the truth of His word and endeavor to live for Him in unity with one another. We are blessed in Chautauqua County with many faith-based endeavors to do just that.

For example, I am happy to be a part of a group of pastors and other ministry leaders that gathers every Tuesday morning at Hillcrest Church in Jamestown to seek God together. We encourage support for local ministries such as Love INC, UCAN City Mission, Options Care Center, Impact Campus Fellowship, Integrity First, and Community Helping Hands.

I am also happy to be part of a special local group called the Chautauqua Lake Region Men of Integrity. For three decades, this ministry has been bringing men from many congregations and denominations together to encourage one another to live out the Gospel, hosting events for men and women alike. This year’s signature event will take place on May 15 as comedian Jeff Allen takes the stage at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts. All are welcome. Go be blessed and laugh together in unity!
