A Little Love for Fall

There is something about the month of October that makes us slow down and notice the little things. Perhaps it’s the first chill in the morning air or the crunch of leaves beneath our feet. It could be the appearance of chrysanthemums in assorted colors brightening doorsteps or trees putting on one last spectacular show while sipping a glass of cider with a freshly baked cider donut.
Fall has a way of making ordinary days feel special. A warm cup of coffee seems to taste a little better when enjoyed beside a window filled with autumn color. An evening walk becomes an opportunity to gather a few colorful leaves and remembering why this season has always held such a special place in our hearts.
Fall traditions can include visiting a pumpkin patch, baking an old family recipe such as grandma’s apple pie, decorating the front porch with hand-picked pumpkins, watching a football game or simply sitting outside for a few extra minutes before the evening chill settles in. October reminds us that change can be beautiful. The leaves let go gracefully, painting the landscape with color before they fall. And somehow, in their letting go, they leave us with something to remember.
So, let’s give October a little love. Put on that favorite sweater and take that scenic route to a cider mill, a fall festival with a corn maze or an Octoberfest with freshly baked Concord grape pies.
Fall doesn’t need to make a grand entrance. Sometimes all it takes is a cool breeze, a colorful tree and a little appreciation for the season right outside our door.
